Talk, talk, talk . . . we love to hear our favorite NCIS characters talk, whether they are indulging in witty banter, interrogating suspects, or confessing their deepest secrets. Your challenge is to write a story which consists ONLY of dialogue—no description allowed!

That means you will have to convey which characters are speaking, where they are, and what they are doing through dialogue alone. The story must include at least two NCIS characters (no one-person monologues/diatribes/rants—that would make it too easy), and can be set in any season.

The particulars:

Content: You have a free choice of subject, as long as you confine yourself to dialogue only (no description).

Characters: Any character who has appeared on at least one episode of NCIS is eligible. This is a chance to use your favorite recurring or guest-shot characters in a fic, so have fun with them! No OCs, please; I’m interested in a story about the people we know. Each story must feature (at least) two different speakers: this is a conversation, not a monologue.

Length: Minimum length, 300 words; maximum length, 5,000 words.

Genre: No crossovers, please. AU, sci-fi/supernatural, humor, fluff, and crach!fic are welcome.

Rating: FR-15 or below; nothing you wouldn’t see or hear on the show. Gen, het, or slash/femmeslash.

Multiple Entries: Up to three entries per writer will be accepted, but each story must feature a different pair of NCIS characters. For example, if your favorite character to write is Ducky, you could submit a story with Ducky and Jimmy, one with Ducky and Gibbs, and one with Ducky and Tim; that’s fine as long as you don’t repeat the same pair of characters.

I encourage you to work with a character you have never written before—then you can also submit your story to Lia’s AndNowforSomethingCompletelyDifferent challenge! (Of course, if you have never written an all-dialogue story before, you can do that anyway, can’t you?)

Obviously, you may submit your story to any another challenge if that’s okay with the other challenge-issuer.

Prizes: If there are at least 10 entries, I will name a winner in ficlet length (up to 1,000 words) and a winner for longer entries (if there are any ).
