Stories That Scared Even Me Challenge by
Enthusiastic Fish
Summary: *Issued by DNAchemLia*
The title of this challenge was inspired by a book of short stories edited by Alfred Hitchcock. The idea, of course, was that the stories within delved into the dark side of human and non-human nature, and were supposedly so terrifying that they gave the director of Psycho pause.
Your challenge, should you chose to accept it, is to write a horror story scary enough that it just might give the challenge issuer (that’s me
) nightmares. Please note: horror does not necessarily equal gore, nor does it necessarily equal brutal torture. Horror can be in your face, or hiding in the shadows. In fact, what happens off screen (or left somewhat to the imagination) can be just as terrifying as what happens in the moment the readers can see.
The Bare Bones:
Rating cap: FR18, but rated for violence and language only, please, and only write stories with a rating that you are old enough to write.
Genre: Any except sex/slash/romance or anything of that nature. It’s still just not my cup of tea. If you can write dark humor that can scare me, more power to you. I don’t imagine fluff or crack will work here, though.
Crossovers: Please ask, and if I’m at least a bit familiar with it, it should be fine.
Prequels/Sequels: as long as the story can stand alone without too much background, it should be fine. Please ask.
Length: Minimum 750 words, no maximum
Maximum number of entries per writer: three (because that’s all the Karma you can get). You can enter the story in other challenges if the other challenge issuer agrees. You can enter stories from other challenges in this one as long as they meet the rest of the criteria.
I’m giving you a lot of time on this one, so there will be no extensions.
Have fun!
