7 February 2012 is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles John Huffman Dickens, and I thought it would be fun to have the occasion marked here on the NFA with a little challenge.


Basics:


Characters Anyone who has ever appeared in NCIS, be they on the side of good or evil.

Rating Any, just label appropriately.

Pairings Not required, but any pairing is acceptable.

Word count Minimum 500 – Maximum 1000

Genre No Crossovers please, other than that absolutely anything goes!

Seasons I would prefer no Season 9, but I should at least have seen a few episodes by the closing date of this challenge, so if that’s the way your muse takes you, then go with it. Please label for Season 8 & 9 spoilers.

Feel free to use this story in another challenge as long as the other challenge issuer agrees.

Multiple entries are most welcome.


CHALLENGE Little is the operative word, this is a ficlet challenge, so nothing over 1000 words please.

The challenge is simple, somewhere in the story I want to see either (a) the title of a Dickens story, (b) a name used by Dickens for one of his characters, or (c) a plot line used by him in one of his stories.

Remember it’s either or, but if you manage to get all three in less than one thousand words, I couldn’t ask for more!

Please don’t shy away from this because Charles Dickens is a closed book to you, after all, even Tony had heard about the spontaneous combustion in Bleak House, so you don’t need to have read his work to have some knowledge of Charles Dickens, that’s what Google and Wikipedia are for!



Deadline 7 February 2012, there won’t be an extension because I do want the challenge to end on the anniversary of Dickens’ birth.
